Dr. Graband & Partner in Germany is Systecon's first representative with a focus on transportation

15 June 2016

The railway sector is characterized by large investments, high availability requirements, complex operations and maintenance solutions. Systecon has long tradition in the Scandinavian mass transit sector. It has provided support and methods for LCC procurement and strategic analysis with Opus Suite. When the decision was made on an international market effort within the transportation sector, the German market was an obvious top candidate. Our first step was to identify a suitable partner, and in Dr. Graband & Partner GmbH we found an established and competent representative in Germany.

Germany is the world leader in the railway sector

Germany produces not only the highest number of kilometers per year in Europe, but it also has a strong manufacturing base with a total turnover of about 10 billion euros per year. The sector includes, among others, Bombardier, Siemens as well as Alstom, which is a longtime customer and user of Opus Suite. In recent years, more and more operators have been introduced on the German market, which has increased the competition for passengers. In the increasingly competitive rail industry market cost-effectiveness has become even more important. Consequently,  LCC and LCM is receiving more attention. Today it’s not uncommon for new vehicles to be procured on the basis of LCC or that advanced analytical tools are used to best organize operation and maintenance. For Systecon, of course, this is a positive trend as we often emphasize that the life cycle approach and competent decision support tools are essential for a cost-effective railway system.

We are therefore especially pleased to announce Dr. Graband & Partner GmbH as Systecon's first representative with a specialized transportation and mobility focus. Dr. Graband & Partner is primarily focused on rail services and has 30 years of experience in the German railway industry. In addition to its focus on LCM, the company also offers consulting services in areas such as project management, RAMS/LCC, reliability, quality, and validation and verification. It also has a proud tradition of customer-specific development of safety-critical software and technical management for both industry and operators. This development means that, in contrast to previous years, you will not find Systecon in SWERIGs stand at the big railway exhibition InnoTrans in Berlin. Instead, we will showcase together with Dr. Graband & Partner GmbH. You are welcome to visit us in the City Cube A, stand 506.

Germany, more than rail

Germany is strategically important for Systecon. It’s the largest economy in our region with prominent industries in all our business areas. Systecon has long had a strong position as a provider of analytics within LCM to the German defense industry. Both government and industry are in the forefront when it comes to strategic analysis of life cycle, and recently Systecon expanded its representation with the appointment of Altenbach Consult GmbH to increase the support to, and the presence at, our German defense customers.

Germany also leads the European energy transition. Right now, the German energy sector is in the great upheaval known as Energiewende, which aims to move away from nuclear power and fossil fuels and embrace renewables. Nowhere in Europe is the installed capacity of wind power or solar power higher, nor is there as much newly installed wind power. We are in discussions with many interesting prospects in this sector.
