Keynote Speaker: Rear Admiral Thomas Engevall

We are pleased to announce that Rear Admiral Thomas Engevall, Former Chief of Defence Logistics in the Swedish Armed Forces, and deputy National Armaments Director at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) will be our keynote speaker at the Nordic Opus Suite Conference 2024. Rear Admiral Engevall retired from active duty in 2022 as Chief of Staff at the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and is now a reserve officer at the Defence Staff. He is a recognized expert in Life Cycle Management (LCM) and a member of the board of Directors at Systecon Group. At the conference, he will share his insights on the challenges and opportunities of LCM to ensure maximum operational readiness as well as cost-effectiveness from a material perspective for military operations.

Title of presentation: Life Cycle Management in NATO
We are pleased to announce Thomas Espelund Pedersen, M.Sc, Ph.D., Chief Consultant at the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) as our honored guest speaker. 

Thomas joined DALO in 2007. He worked with life cycle cost, acquisition, and logistics in various positions before becoming part of the DALO Competence Centre, responsible for LCM, in 2014. He has been the Danish representative to the NATO LCM Group (AC/327) since 2008 and chairman of the annual Life Cycle Management in NATO Conference since 2015. Before he arrived at DALO, Thomas earned his M.Sc in Planning and Technology Management and Ph.D. in Statistics and Operations Research from the Technical University of Denmark. He worked for several years at the Danish Defence Research Establishment on mathematical models for logistics and life cycle cost analysis, participating in various NATO working groups on these subjects, and spending six months as an operations analyst at NATO KFOR HQ in Kosovo.

Chief Consultant, Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO)
Title of presentation: Life Cycle Management in NATO
The application of Systems Life Cycle Management to optimize defense capabilities, taking into account performance, cost, schedule, quality, operational environments, integrated logistic support, and obsolescence, is a long-standing NATO policy. 

This presentation provides an overview of the implementation of this policy through the establishment and work of the NATO Life Cycle Management Group and gives some insights into the portfolio of standards and guides produced and maintained by the group. 

In addition, it lays out the ways NATO and partner nations, and industry as well (through the NATO Industrial Advisory Group) can become involved and contribute to this work.
